In development: not yet in the App Store or Google Play

See what a product really costs before you buy

PriceWarden is a price comparison app for shoppers in Canada. Scan a barcode, and it lines up the offers it can find for that product by the total you would actually pay, in Canadian dollars.

The true total

A low sticker price can hide shipping, sales tax and, for stores outside Canada, duties and a currency conversion. PriceWarden adds those up for every offer, using the province you live in, and ranks the offers by the result:

Price + shipping + sales tax + duties, converted to CAD = the true total

Exchange rates come from the Bank of Canada's published daily rates. The figures are estimates built from the data stores and price services publish; the price at the store's checkout is the one that counts.

How it works

Plans

The free plan includes unlimited scans, true-total ranking and a small watchlist. Paid plans, bought through the App Store or Google Play, add watchlist slots and more alert options. Plan names and prices will be published here before the app is released.

Privacy, briefly

Your account is an email address: there is no password. The app asks for your province and postal code to work out tax and shipping, and does not ask for location access. There is no analytics or advertising software in the app or on this site. The privacy policy lists everything PriceWarden holds and who else sees it.

How PriceWarden is paid

By paid plans, and by commissions some stores pay when a purchase is made through a link in the app. A commission costs you nothing extra. The affiliate disclosure explains how these links work.
